Kim Linekin

MyFLIX Curator

Kim Linekin has been a film critic since 1999 when she was hired by NOW Magazine, Toronto's biggest alt-weekly. From there she became senior film critic at Toronto's Eye Weekly and started covering films on-air for CBC Radio, Canada's public broadcaster. She's written film reviews for Vancouver's alt-weekly The Georgia Straight and Calgary's Fast Forward Weekly. As MSN Canada's senior film and TV writer from 2009-13, Kim's articles were often picked up by MSN's sites in the US and abroad, and occasionally reached 3+ million readers.

Kim was a longtime member of the Toronto Film Critics Association. She served on FIPRESCI (the international association of film critics) juries at film festivals in Germany, Canada and all over the U.S., then chaired the Vancouver Film Critics Circle for three years before stepping back to have a baby in 2015.

Kim is currently CBC Radio's nationally syndicated pop culture columnist, where she covers news and trends in TV, film, music, books, videogames and internet phenomena. She also writes features for the Director's Guild of Canada magazine and POV, a documentary-focused magazine.
Her current focus is the golden age of television, particularly shows with sly relevance and deep emotional resonance like FX's The Americans
