“All the world's a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.”

Drama Feature

A young woman about to join the military meets a married woman with two kids and falls deeply in love, upending their entire lives.

Ken Eisner

There’s plenty of talent on offer in this first feature for writer-director Deb Shoval and her mostly female crew. U.K.-born Lola Kirke excels as a small-town Pennsylvanian who joins the army just as she gets distracted by a married woman with kids and a bad reputation. It was expanded from a short, and some subplots stay sketchy. But a number of background details are even more interesting than the main story.
